FAQs

The results generated by our drone mapping and orthomosaic services cannot replace a traditional survey because they are not signed or certified by a licensed surveyor or engineer. While our drone technology provides highly detailed and accurate visual data, essential for planning, monitoring, and assessing sites, it does not fulfill the legal requirements of a traditional land survey.
Traditional surveys conducted by licensed professionals are legally recognized documents used for property boundaries, zoning, and permitting purposes, and they meet the regulatory standards required by authorities. Our drone-generated maps are an invaluable tool for project planning, progress tracking, volume calculations, and preliminary site assessments, providing a cost-effective and efficient way to gather detailed spatial information. However, they should be used as a complementary resource to traditional surveys, particularly when exact boundary determinations or legal documentation is needed.
-
Our orthomosaic maps achieve centimeter-level accuracy, thanks to advanced Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) technology integrated with our drone systems. This high level of precision makes our maps ideal for applications that require detailed spatial data, such as construction site planning, volume measurements, and monitoring land changes over time. The RTK system corrects GPS signals in real-time, reducing errors typically found in standard drone mapping to ensure exceptional positional accuracy.
While our orthomosaic maps provide highly reliable data that can greatly enhance project planning and decision-making, it’s important to note that they are not legally recognized as survey-grade products. These maps are excellent for most planning and operational needs, but they should be used in conjunction with certified survey data when legal or engineering certification is required.

Yes, we have flight insurance available to cover our drone operations if required. Our insurance provides coverage for liability during flights, ensuring that our operations are conducted safely and responsibly. If your project or site requires proof of insurance, please let us know, and we will provide the necessary documentation. If insurance is not specifically required, it will be provided at TerraScan's discretion based on the nature and risk assessment of the operation.

Aerial photography is highly beneficial for real estate, construction, agriculture, marketing, and environmental monitoring, providing stunning visuals that enhance property listings, project documentation, and promotional materials.
-
Drones can inspect hard-to-reach areas such as rooftops, towers, bridges, and construction sites, providing detailed visual assessments without the need for ladders, scaffolding, or other risky methods.
-
Depending on the complexity of the project, data is typically processed and delivered within 24-72 hours. We strive to provide quick turnaround times without compromising data quality.
-
Yes, drone inspections are safer than traditional methods, eliminating the need for manual access to hazardous or elevated areas. Our pilots are certified and follow strict safety protocols during each flight.
-
Drones have certain weather limitations, such as heavy rain, high winds, and low visibility. We schedule flights based on optimal weather conditions to ensure the best data quality and safety.
-
The coverage area depends on the altitude and mission specifics, but generally, our drones can map several acres per flight, providing detailed data quickly and efficiently.
Typically, a 30-acre site takes an hour to map, including setup and ground control points.
